Life’s Hard Sometimes

Life’s hard sometimes.

I’m an optimist. I always see the glass as half full, and I think that good will overcome evil, and that my team can make a fourth quarter comeback in spite of having to go with their third team quarterback. I’m old, bald, and overweight and I still think I’ll get the girl.

But Life’s hard sometimes.

I believe in things. I believe that if you’re nice to people, they’ll be nice to you. I think that doing an unselfish act creates good karma and something good will happen to you. I believe that people are inherently good, but just have bad moments.

Life’s hard though.

I’m sure I’ll find good luck. I think I can win playing the slot machines, but I only play about once a year, just to be safe. I always pick up a penny and carry it around because, of course, that will bring good luck. But I don’t believe in bad luck.   Black cats, walking under ladders, stepping on cracks; I have no fear of any of those things because there’s no such thing as bad luck.

But damn, Life’s hard sometimes.

I think the human spirit can conquer anything. I know that a positive attitude can make everything right, and that faith can move mountains. The human mind in a wondrous machine especially when combined with those feelings of the heart. Things that don’t kill us, make us stronger.

Still, Life’s hard sometimes.

I believe in life ever after, and that it’s a kind of a perfect heaven that we can’t even begin to understand. I think that all the people we have loved who have passed before us will be there to greet us. I see my dogs bounding over beautiful grass fields to meet me, and I see Uncle Lee on his tractor and Grandpa in his rocking chair

Yet, Life’s hard.sometimes.

I have a spiritual base. I believe in God and that Jesus died for our sins and that we’ll be forgiven. I believe religion is a source of good and brings positive change to people’s lives.

Though Life’s hard sometimes.

I think there are heroes among us and I trust the better angels in each of us I know that stereotypes are ridiculous, but not so prevalent as they once were, and that prejudice and racism are diminishing. I believe we can “all just get along.”

But Life’s hard sometimes.

I believe in romance and love, and though the search is hard, I still think I’ll find someone to spend the rest of my life with. Even though I’m old, I still think there’s someone out there for me, even if all signs indicate the opposite.

Yet, Life’s so hard.
